For many of us, eternity is closer than we think. Are you living your life as if you won’t be here tomorrow? No one is promised tomorrow the next hour or even the next minute. So why do we live as if we will be here forever? Why are so many of us so caught up in this world and worldly things? “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36 (KJV). For followers of Jesus the things of this world should pale in comparison with our love and longing for Him. Unfortunately, many times, that is not the case. What are you passionately pursuing? Are you a God chaser or are you chasing after wealth, a bigger house, that nice car or that promotion?
With all of the turmoil going on in the world right now, it should cause us to think about eternity and where we will spend it. Not only thinking of ourselves but also our loved ones and the lost world around us. I read so many blogs and articles about how to survive and bug out when it all hits the fan with no emphasis put on our eternal destiny. Even if you survive the calamities to come, it will only be temporary, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment,” Hebrews 9:27 (KJV).
I personally believe that we may only have months before life changes drastically for all of us. When this happens, only those whose house is built upon the rock will be able to stand. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock,” (KJV). America is living on borrowed time. God has been merciful and slow to anger. The prophets and watchmen have warned, but those warnings have mostly fallen on deaf ears. America has refused to repent and instead, openly embraces and celebrates sin. Things are accelerating and happening quickly right before us. Do you have eyes to see? If you are not right with God, repent and get your life in order. We ought to be crying out to God desperately on a daily basis for the lost because time is running out and eternity is at the door.
