Many people I talk to are just alarmed at what is going on in our world these days. Some even question if we are living in the last days. Personally nothing really shocks me much anymore. The Bible speaks of what it will be like in the last days. Let’s look at II Timothy 3:1-7, “1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (KJV).
The aforementioned passage of scripture certainly describes what our society looks like right now. There have been dramatic changes in our world even since the beginning of this year 2014. I’m not one to usually share dreams that I’ve had, but in light of all of the things that are quickly unfolding around us, this one fits right in. Back in January of 2013, I had a dream in which my mom was in my house during the middle of the night and was up gathering things. I asked her what she was doing. All she said was that we have to prepare; we have to hurry up and prepare. The fact that she was doing this in the middle of the night told me that there was no time for sleep or slumber because the time was short. I remember asking her in the dream what we were preparing for, but I never got an answer. Even though I did not get an answer from her in the dream I knew that something devastating was going to happen here in the U.S. and I knew that it would be while President Obama is in office. Notice that the message from that dream was to prepare.
There are many who have had prophetic dreams and /or visions warning us of things to come. At the time the things they they’ve seen may have seemed a bit farfetched, but now many of these are making perfect sense as events unfold. The watchmen and prophets have been warning for years but the warning have fallen mostly on deaf ears.
I was totally floored when I ran across this video of a prophetic word from George Pennicuff. I’d never heard of him but was listening to a radio program this past week and the host played the audio of his prophecy for America in 2014. I know that in my spirit since the beginning of this year I have felt an urgency like never before for the lost. There are still some even in my own family who are not saved and I keep them before the Lord now on a daily basis. It is so much later than most of us think. We need to be awake and staying abreast of what is going on, but also be very careful of getting so distracted by and overcome with the negative things that are going on. Some people seem to thrive on bad new or crisis. It’s our response in these times and our spiritual preparation that is going to make a difference. Remember to keep your eyes on Jesus. The Lord reminds us in John 16:33 (KJV), “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
My plea to everyone is to get to know Jesus. Seek him like never before. Get as close to Him as you can. Ask Him to search your heart and expose those things that aren’t pleasing to Him, and when He does, repent and turn away from those things. Turn off the distractions of life and climb into the prayer closet. Clear your busy schedules and make time for Him. In I Thessalonians 5:17, we are reminded to “Pray without ceasing” (KJV). Jesus should be your number one priority. You’re going to need a firm foundation to stand on in the days ahead. Our way of life and comfortable living are about to change. The true followers of Jesus are about to be tested and tried in the furnace of affliction. Those that endure until the end shall be saved. The time of preparation so that you have a firm foundation is now. Those that don’t will succumb to the fire.
Many that call themselves Christians will perish. They think they are ready and they aren’t. They follow a church, a denomination or a man, but they don’t follow Jesus. They don’t know Jesus. They don’t read His word, and they don’t talk to Him. They don’t know Him but they think they do because they go to church and listen to a preacher every week. They’ve prayed the sinner’s prayer at some point in their lives but never turned from sin. Many Christians will stand before Jesus and will be turned away. He will say I never knew you. Jesus speaks of this in Matthew 7:22-23 (KJV), “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
If you don’t know Him today make it your priority to get acquainted with the only One who can save you. There are no magical prayers or words for you to recite. All you have to do is seek Him with your whole heart, repent (turn away) from sin, and take up your cross daily and follow Him. You must hurry because it’s almost midnight.
