The hour is late. It's later than most of us realize or can even imagine. We must be diligent and make the most of and take every opportunity that we have to minister and further the Kingdom of God. Each of us is called to do something. Most of us will never have a platform in the public eye so don't think because you don't have a large audience that God cannot use you. Many of us have been called to work behind the scenes in many areas.
I was inspired to write this article after taking a business trip this week. I remember praying before I left that God would give me divine appointments and opportunities during this time. He is faithful and if we ask, He will deliver. As I spent time in New Orleans this week I watched the Lord set up opportunities and open doors. I couldn't wait to get down to Bourbon every night after work so that I could be ready and available for God to use me.
It's one thing to sit behind a desk and write blogs or produce YouTube videos but quite another to get out of our comfort zone and actually interact with and meet the needs of hurting people. I want to encourage and even challenge each follower of Jesus to step out open your eyes and see the needs around you. Take the time to sit and talk to a homeless person instead of automatically judging them.
God is at work even in the midst of what is going on in places like Baltimore. I just read an article about rivals gangs uniting and coming together to police their own streets. This blows my mind but there is an opportunity in this and we don't want to miss it. These gang members are ripe and we need to harvest them for Gods kingdom before the negative elements like ISIS come in and sway them in that direction.
This reminds me of Luke Chapter 14 in which Jesus told the parable of the feast and those that were invited that rejected the invitation because they were too busy (today’s worldly minded Christians). So he went out and gathered those that society would consider as having no value and brought them in at the last minute to dine at His table. Let’s take this parable to heart because we are living in that time right now. Instead of just worrying about ourselves and our loved ones, reach out to those who seem to be unlovable or who society would label as being of no value.
I see so many Christians especially in the truth movement who are so focused on Jade Helm, the coming economic collapse, CERN, foreign invasions, ISIS and the list goes on. There is nothing wrong with being informed and prepared for what is going on around us. Nonetheless, our real focus should be on winning souls and preparing for the return of our King Jesus.
I know that it sounds cliché to say that it's almost midnight but it is truly almost midnight and there is much work to be done. John 9:4 says it best. “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work,” (KJV). Night is upon us and will overtake us before we know it. Things are changing rapidly and I truly believe that his year will be pivotal. The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37).
