I believe that 2015 will be a pivotal year in the spiritual realm. I wanted to write about this because I’ve been feeling some things in my spirit and in listening to what many of the prophetic voices that have been speaking, it comes in agreement.
This is the year that choices will have to be made. The time of compromise and sitting on the fence is over. You will have to make a choice, you’re either out or in, hot or cold. Christians will no longer be able to keep one foot in the world and the other in the church. As events unfold this year, I believe that each and every one of us will be forced to make a choice. “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” II Corinthians 6:16-17 (KJV). As the word of God says, we are called to be a people who will separate ourselves from the world. Yes, we still have to live in this world be we are not to be of the world. We are to live our lives in such a way that we don’t have to tell someone that we are a Christian, but it will be apparent by our actions, choices, and attitudes. I also believe that many who are posing as followers of Jesus (especially those in the limelight) will be exposed for what and who they really are.
This is the year to walk in total obedience to God, no matter how big or small the thing is that he is asking us to do. The bible tells us in I Samuel 15:22, “……..Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams,” (KJV). The Lord loves our sacrifices of worship, but the better thing is to obey. Many Christians have been called to the mission field, into ministry, to witness to their neighbor, or go pray at the abortion clinic (just a few examples), but many have ignored the call and are walking in disobedience. Are you ignoring something that God has asked you to do?
This is the year of no distractions and total commitment to the Lord. This goes hand in hand with being obedient to the Lord. Many times the things in our lives distract us or give us an excuse for not doing the things that God has asked us to do. Satan is a master at distracting us. Maybe you’ve put off obeying the Lord because your career is going great and you’re up for a promotion or perhaps you need to work more to afford the bigger, nicer house that you really don’t need. Maybe it’s a relationship or form of entertainment that holds you back. Anything ahead of God is an idol and must be cast down. There are many people who don’t have time to pray, spend time with the Lord or read His word, but will make time to watch their favorite T.V. shows, attend sporting events and engage in other forms of entertainment. So in essence these things have become idols in their lives. In Exodus 20:3 God commands, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”(KJV). This is the year that distractions will fall off either of our choosing or by God shaking them off of us. Time is short and there is still much kingdom work to be done.
This is the year that things will be shaken up (I believe both in the church as well as the world). There will be a shaking both in the spiritual and physical realm. Things that have been (and have been immovable) are no longer going to be.
This is the year of release and destiny for the people of God. I know that many of you have wondered why you have been overlooked and passed over time and time again. I believe that God has been hiding and preparing you for such a time as this. A couple of weeks ago I visited a church when we were on vacation and one of the things that the pastor said as part of the sermon really resonated with me. He said, “Sometimes you may feel isolated but God is simply insulating you from what is trying to destroy you.” I’m sharing this as a word of encouragement to those that need it. Many of us that are older have given up on things that we’ve dreamed about. Some may feel like God has forgotten about them or that it’s too late. I’ve been led to pray quite a bit in the last few months for this age group and for dead dreams to awaken again. I believe that God is faithful and will do it.
Don’t be discouraged this year if things in your life begin to drastically change. You may lose a job because God is positioning you to do what you were always destined to do. Lifelong friends may suddenly abandon you because those relationships were holding you back from God’s true purpose for your life. You have to remember that everything that he allows to happen will be for your good and to benefit His kingdom. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose,” Romans 8:28 (KJV).
